Rec: Okay this isn't new fic. In fact, this is probably the 10th time I've reread it. But that's for good reason! It's bloody excellent and I adore it so much. (And the sequels! Read the sequels too! The full series is ~115k and is marked as incomplete, though the individual fics are all complete and don't leave any cliffhanger-y questions open.) Unapologetic fix-it that never gets cloying, and deals with problems in really interesting and clever ways. Fantastic worldbuilding that really expands on some of the Star Wars concepts. A total favourite of a main character. Aaaaaah yes it's so good ♥ Regarding canon knowledge, I think a lot of this fic will be confusing and not interesting without. However, I've not seen most of the movies & derive most of my canon knowledge from fandom, and that's plenty for this fic!

Rec: This is a series that is marked as incomplete. All but the last fic are complete works, though, and leave you wanting more only in the sense of "I want a MILLION MORE words in this universe!" Like with Fundamental Force Carriers, this fic probably isn't very interesting without canon knowledge, but like Star Wars, I've not actually seen or read a lot of actual canon Fullmetal Alchemist, so fandom osmosis works well enough.
If you can't make your own, store-bought is fine.The writing is somewhat meandering but entirely delightful - I enjoy seeing the Elrics as Really Very Old Indeed, and how they would interact with the world with the weight of all of that knowledge and time and experience behind them. I have, technically, played a few hours of Warframe. However, I learned more about the world in this PWP that while playing the game. All you need to know is explained in the fic, but basically, The Operator fights as "warframes" which are basically a mecha suit that you astral project into to pilot it. The spaceship is sentient and also helps with the operator-warframe interfacing.) But really, if you like creative sex? If you like porn but prefer things that aren't classic tab-a-in-slot-b moves? If you like people in non-humanoid or non-organic bodies finding ways to have sex? This fic is for you. :D

Rec: This is exactly what it says on the tin. Chat-fic porn, a plot outline, an unfinished beginning. AND YET. And yet this is somehow my favourite thing I've read this week. It's also the reason I'm in rarepair hell now which I am VERY ANNOYED ABOUT. *immediately attempts to drag people down with me* The porn is hot despite being in unfinished chat-fic format and also is a kink I want SO MUCH MORE OF (especially in this fandom), the plot is interesting and really makes me want the whole full fic, and the fic beginning has delightful characterisation. Give it a try despite everything speaking against it? XD Regarding canon knowledge, most of the relevant stuff is explained in the fic. If you don't know the game at all, I'd recommend finding the 1 minute cinematic game intro on youtube & that's really all you need to know tbh.

Other: I really enjoy competent!Tony DiNozzo paired with just about anybody else in fandom, and Jilly excels at this. Here, Tony DiNozzo is a sentinel who changed his name to Dominic Rossi some time ago (details explained in the story). When Dom Rossi and Tony Stark interact during the battle of New York, their interest in each other is sparked, and they gradually develop a relationship. This is a great, feel-good story, and I particularly like how each man fully accepts the totality of the other, whatever their quirks -- these are the characters as we seldom see them on the screen, but fanfic shows them at their best.
The sequel is longer, as Dom and Tony develop their relationship amid all the obstacles the world throws their way, and just as much fun --

Other: I’m fairly new to reading HP fic, and Keira was the one who shoved me through the door. Her long stories are beautifully layered and complex, and this one totally fits that description. Harry feels it only right to write to Narcissa and Draco Malfoy, extending his sympathy at the death of Lucius, and explaining how he helped Harry before he was killed. The Malfoys respond to that kindness, and a cautious friendship develops as they help Harry navigate his position in the Wizarding world. As Harry and Draco work together to establish their new places as Lord of their Houses, their personal relationship grows even deeper. I know Harry/Draco isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’ve ever felt interested in checking out that pairing (or if you’re already a fan of H/D), I think you’ll enjoy this story.

Other: This story is an exploration of what happens when two young men who can’t stand each other are forced into living and working together by a magical bond and, eventually, into a physical relationship. Neither accepts this willingly, and they have to deal with the added hassle of associating with each other’s houses, but gradually, eventually, they begin to accept and enjoy their new relationship. It’s not smooth sailing by any means -- just when you think, “Okay, finally we’re ready for ‘happily ever after’!”, the author tosses another obstacle into their path. It’s not easy, but Harry and Draco -- and their friends in both houses -- finally reach a realistic (for magical values of ‘realistic’) and amicable status quo.
