If you'd like, let me know and I can reread it with new fans in mind and get back to you tomorrow. Off the top of my head, it isn't spoilery and I'd say all you need to know about the Magnus Archives is that different primal fears have supernatural power, and that they have avatars that are lent some of that power in return for a mixture of worship and spread that fear, often by frightening people to death. This story takes the characters from Rusty Quill Gaming and makes them avatars of the fears in the Magnus universe. Zolf is a sailor in RQG so he represents fear of the Vast, things like the sea, space, falling from great heights etc. In RQG Sasha is a rogue so she worships/spreads fear of the dark and not knowing what lurks in it. Bertie is a fighter who only cares about fame and fortune so he becomes the fear of senseless slaughter. Hamid is a halfling with a knack for fire magic especially when angry so he becomes an avatar of the Lightless Flame, burning/destruction without creation or benefit.

It's more character than plotty and more show than tell. Like many fics it doesn't do a lot to introduce people so I guess it really depends on if you can enjoy going with the flow or if you like having more background on what makes the universe and characters tick.

I don't have much time to start a new TV series but Hannibal sounds like canon dark!fic, deliciously messed up. The second fic is going on my list, I've seen Captain Marvel/Valkyrie fics going around but been put off felt weird about it because much appears to erase or forget Maria. So thanks for noting talk about her!
