This story should be on everyone's "must read" list. It sings to my heart, jam-packed with a quiet loveliness. In this 'ordinary mortal' AU, everyone's creative art fits their personalities so well, and the details scattered throughout are stars that brighten the landscape. Nicky and Joe gradually growing closer, and their attraction to each other, is the icing on a very delicious cake. It really can't be adequately described; just read it!

I would have liked to see this series continue, but it's still a satisfying read.

Other: This very long story is a rose-colored-glasses view of what happens after Gibbs and Tony marry for convenience. This story is packed with crimes solved, a developing relationship between Gibbs and Tony, an unexpected inheritance, Jackson joining the family, Tony getting a puppy, a honeymoon in Italy combined with discovering Tony's true background, and more I'm forgetting. We see a generous, openhearted Tony learning to deal with his new circumstances while falling in love with Gibbs in a way that occasionally verges on sappiness, but never quite crosses the line -- though I don't think I'd mind if it did. Very satisfying all around.
Story: First Prime and The Guardian

Other: There is more to the First Prime universe -- 6 stories so far, 335,000 words -- but the first two stories are the key heart and soul, and I can't rec the first without recc'ing the second. And it's hard to talk about these stories without giving spoilers. (Although FP is 7-1/2 years old; can there still be spoilers?) Okay, going off the author's summary... when Daniel makes friends with Teal'c's symbiote, the changes rock the foundations of the SGC in a good way, and open the door to gaining a vast advantage in their fight against the Goa'uld. There's a lot that happens in the first story: we get to see the "ground floor" of the upcoming advantage-changes, and the story is in no way unfinished or leaves us with a cliffhanger... but it leaves us wanting more. The second story gives us that, with both Daniel and Jack learning to be comfortable with the new circumstances at the SGC, and dealing with the shit that occurs when outside forces try to derail those new circumstances, and letting us learn more about the new characters involved. These two stories are so good! If you haven't read them, settle in for a treat... and then enjoy the other stories in the universe, as well.
